The AndSAM Summer Android Phone Programming Camp 2013

What the Camp is about:

The camp is taught by professors and graduate students from Clemson University and is open to any rising 9th through 12th grade students in the Greenville SC area.

No programming experience is required. Camp participants will create Android phone apps using both Android App Inventor and Java. They will also learn about the many exciting opportunities in computer science. The camp is an excellent way to introduce students to both computer science and Java programming.

Why you should participate:

  • Java is one of the top 3 computer languages in the world, It's also the language of AP Computer Science, and one of the languages used in FIRST robotics competitions.

  • Smart phones are the world's # 1 internet access device and Android phones are the most numerous type of smart phone in the world.

  • The number of computer related jobs is substantial. Add up all the existing scientist, mathematician, statistician, engineering, physician, and surgeon jobs in America and it roughly equals the number of computer related jobs that require a bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Collectively, computing related jobs have the highest projected job growth rate compared to all other areas of science, math, and engineering.

  • It's FUN!
